Tree Vase 16"H x 9"W
My love of glass blowing is only rivaled by my love of drawing and painting. For me glass blowing is an “Art sport”, it combines the physicality of sport with the aesthetic choices in art.
The figure and the landscape are at the heart of my work. When working with molten glass on a blowpipe, the figure emerges in my sense of proportion. Shape metamorphoses from thick to thin, vessel relates to body. In glass, pure saturated color mixes with luminous light. The interplay of the color and three-dimensional form poses a lifelong challenge to me as an artist.

The "Tree Vase" was inspired by a pastel drawing I did many years ago. The drawing came from memories of walking in the woods in the late afternoon, with golden light filtering though the trees.
The shape of the vase came from looking at Arts and Crafts pottery forms from the turn of the century.

In 2012 Lisa responded to President Obama’s request to help Veterans return home from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. She was inspired to create an event that would allow Veterans to experience glass blowing in their hometowns. The first “Veterans Glassblowing Day” in 2013 was a great success with 25 schools participating, the second annual VGD is scheduled for November 8th 2014, glassblowing schools around the country will open their doors to Veterans to learn to blow glass for free. Glass schools around the county continue to offer classes for our Veterans as a Thank You for their service.
